Brief
History
Promotion and development of
various sports in Nepal is
going on in a very slow
pace, so far. The efforts
made by the country in this
field are not sufficient. It
is also felt that the level
of awareness that the sports
development agencies have
about the international
scenario is still very low.
Sometimes, it is also felt a
lack of clear vision, while
most of the times the
efforts are thwarted by the
lack of financial and
technical support. Due to
these and similar several
other factors, the Nepalese
players have not been able
to do what they can -
neither for the country nor
for themselves.
Opportunities to play with
international players within
or outside the country are
not available sufficiently
because of various
constraints existing in the
nation. Initiation from
private and non-governmental
sectors is, therefore,
necessary to extend
additional support for the
development of Karate sports
in Nepal.
Beside this context, Nepal
Kwanmukan Karate Do,
Association (N.K.M.K.A.) is
going to organize an
international championships
in Kathmandu in 2005.
Nepalese Karate players
would get an opportunity to
demonstrate their skills
while competing against
international players
invited to take part in the
championship. It will
certainly develop confidence
to the Nepalese Karate-Ka.
Playing with international
players in home ground is
very rare opportunity for
them. Karate is one of the
sports in which Nepal has
already shown its great
potentials. Nepalese players
have set wonderful record in
S.A.F. games and they have
also exhibited their
potentials while performing
in some international
competitions like (Asiad)
Asian Games, W.K.C
Championships, Kwanmukan
Karate Championships etc.
This scheduled program
would be successfully
conclude if the association
gets financial support from
national and international
organizations/institutions.
Main objectives for
formation of N.K.M.K.A. are:
- To invite
international players such
as USA, Japan, Korea, India,
UK, Germany, South Ireland
and other 57 countries
- To provide
opportunity for skilled
Nepalese players to have
experiences of playing with
international players.
- To organize a
seminar or refresher
training for Nepalese
referees
